King Canna CBD
Research & Ideation.
I was hired in 2022 to design a logo for King Canna CBD based in Oregon. They currently had a logo for the cannabis side of their business, but they were branching out into more CBD products such as lotions, bath bombs, and oils. From our discussions, they were looking for something that would be more fitting than their current logo for items that would be displayed on grocery store shelves. Key words from our conversations were: organic and natural and they also wanted to keep with a King’s crown aesthetic. Their current logo has more of a Joker’s crown vibe, so I adjusted my crowns to have a regal representation and received approval for that change as well. To the left are 40 sketch iterations from which they ended up choosing number 7 to work from.
Digital Rendering.
While using Adobe Illustrator, I carefully designed a detailed oil drop to match the golden color of CBD oil, which is associated with luxury and royalty. Next to it, I created different versions of crowns in gold and silver, each looking realistic and detailed.
Final Logo.
Ultimately, my client chose to go with a contrasting three-dimensional version. This logo is successful in meeting my clients’ needs because it highlights the purity of their product while also aligning with their king-sized branding.
More Logo Variations.
Following the crown and CBD droplet theme, I created flatter logo versions. I merged the foreground and background by changing the droplet-crown color overlay. A 2D logo suits industry standards and reduces printing costs. Despite liking the simpler designs, my client preferred the original.
