New Life Fashion Logo Design.

From my symbol sketches, I chose a couple of ideas for further logo development; butterflies and scissors as well as a clothing hanger with a heartbeat. The scissors in the butterfly design came as a natural thought when I noticed the shape of the wings looked similar to the shape of open scissors. To me, it combined the idea of transformation with clothing and so that was the symbol design I chose to focus on. It was important to me that I could see both the scissors and the butterfly and that the logo remained simple and clean.

Logo Development.

New Life Fashion is a concept for a clothing-refresher store where people can take their used clothes and have them made like new again. This store embodies the ideas of sustainability, climate change awareness, and recycled fashion. The goal is to bring old clothes back to life. Some symbols that commonly reflect these qualities are the scarab beetle, butterflies, and revolving arrows.

Final Logo.

My final logo design is successful in conveying a message of transformation and bringing new life to clothes. I accomplished this by investing time and thought into the development of my symbols as well as by adding the business name underneath in close proximity. In the name, you will notice that the symbol is reflected again in the dot for the ‘i’ in Life. This was important to help unify the symbol and the verbiage together as one logo.

In this stage, I learned more about the dos and don’ts when adding text to logo designs. Legibility is very important when it comes to logos but so is its ability to scale up and down so that it can be used in many ways and on many sizes of objects and media.
